Brigham and Women's Hospital
The Brigham and Women’s Sleep Disorders Service is the only American Academy of Sleep Medicine designated Comprehensive Academic Sleep Program of Distinction in New England for adult patients with sleep disorders. The service also integrates an accredited ACGME clinical fellowship in Sleep Medicine.
The Brigham and Women’s Sleep Disorders Service provides diagnostic and treatment services for patients with sleep-wake disorders at two convenient clinic locations: one at the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital and another at South Shore Hospital. We specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of all 90 known sleep disorders, including: Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Insomnia, Narcolepsy, Restless Leg Syndrome, and other sleep disorders. We provide diagnostic Home Sleep Tests and In-lab Sleep Tests, treatment with CPAP, dental appliances, individual behavioral therapy and support groups. We also evaluate patients for hypoglossal nerve stimulation for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
The Brigham and Women’s Sleep Disorders Service also has two specialty programs. One has doctors with special expertise in the many Neurologic Complications of Sleep including: movement disorders, behavioral disturbances, epilepsy/seizure and stroke.
As many patients with sleep problems also have issues with their sleep wake schedules, the second specialty clinic is the Circadian Disorders clinic. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
The Sleep Disorders Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is a comprehensive, academic sleep center, the first in Massachusetts to be accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Its faculty include board-certified sleep medicine physicians and highly trained sleep medicine nurse practitioners from the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine as well as the Department of Neurology. The Sleep Disorders Center is one of the largest sleep clinics in New England, with over 10,000 patient visits at six different clinic locations and over 4,000 in-laboratory and home sleep studies annually.
The Sleep Disorders Center at BIDMC provides comprehensive evaluation and management for the full range of sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, insomnia, narcolepsy, REM behavior disorder and circadian rhythm disorders. Specialized clinics focus on respiratory failure and circadian rhythm disorders, utilizing melatonin profile testing or actigraphy. The Sleep Lab provides standardized testing, as well as highly specialized treatment of complicated sleep-related breathing disorders. The Sleep Disorders Center also participates in clinical trials of new treatments and medications and is home to the largest ACGME-accredited sleep medicine fellowship training program in Boston.
