Sleep Apnea Translational Physiology Group
Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders, Brigham and Women's Hospital
Director: Scott A. Sands, PhD
Our group investigates sleep apnea physiology with the goal of facilitating precision medicine interventions. Our work is shedding light on differences in pathogenesis of sleep apnea between individuals, developing and implementing hybrid physiology/engineering tools to recognize different disease endotypes, using physiology to predict responses to different sleep apnea therapies (pharmacological, surgeries, devices), and testing novel therapies targeting physiological mechanisms.
